The turnover of the full-service IT company “Capital” was 39 million euros last year, increasing by 5.4% during the year and reaching the highest figure in recent years. The largest growth for the company was provided by the provision of IT services – the turnover in the segment increased by 140%. Sales volumes in the IT infrastructure category also grew by almost a third. Such trends in the growth of “Capital” have been maintained for the second year in a row.
“Capital” board member Aigars Bērziņš predicts an increase in the demand for IT support services in 2024 as well, which will be facilitated by the updating of the European Union cyber security directive NIS 2 in the Latvian business environment: “The main goal of this directive is to ensure a uniformly high level of cyber security throughout the European Union, and it will affect a wide variety of industries. Compliance with the new requirements will require additional investment and work from many companies. This directive demands a more responsible attitude and behavior from companies in cyber security issues, making them mandatory, not “nice to have”, as it could have been before,” Aigars Bērziņš is convinced.
The ability of the IT infrastructure category to drive the growth of “Capital” is a natural result of the strategic decision taken a couple of years ago to develop the segment, says “Capital” board member Ivars Schulcs. “Various artificial intelligence solutions, which require the latest and smartest servers, data warehouses, network infrastructure solutions and other IT architecture components, play an increasingly important role in the work processes of companies. A well-designed IT infrastructure is and will continue to be an important basis for the development of successful artificial intelligence solutions,” says I. Šulcs.
The products of the widely recognized Latvian manufacturer MikroTik continue their victory march in the IT infrastructure segment – their sales volume has increased by 89%. The devices are particularly popular in the field of security and defense, as well as in the digitalization of schools.
During the last year, “Capital” has also transformed its website and online order system. “Currently, we offer to buy 100,000 devices online from 37 warehouses around the world, and we are on the finish line, so that their number reaches 300,000. For comparison, on the previous website, approximately 3,000 products were available,” says Aigars Bērziņš. Thus, buyers will have access to a wide range of IT products, while “Capital” will direct the energy of the company’s sales team to in-depth research of customer needs and preparation of individual solutions.
In 2023, Capital made the largest shipment in its history, delivering 8,800 ASUS Chromebook CX1 laptops on 7-9. for pupils in Latvian schools within the procurement of the Ministry of Education and Science. Along with computers, Capital also provided schools and municipalities with software for their centralized and efficient management.
In 2022, “Capital” paid almost four million euros in taxes to the Latvian budget, and the company’s tax contributions are increasing every year.
