Microsoft is building an app store for… the iPhone

Europe has forced Apple to open up its ecosystem to other app stores. It is expected that the iPhone will be able to install apps from other resources as early as next year, at the latest in the first days of March this year. Initially, it was expected that this would happen together with the release of the latest iOS 17 in mid-September.

Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Xbox, announced during the CCXP conference that Microsoft is indeed planning an app store for the iPhone, and we can probably expect something similar for the iPad.

At the same time, it should be remembered that even a giant like Amazon has huge problems to offer an app store even on an operating system as open as Android. The content of the app store will say a lot – if Microsoft offers something useful and unique, and if an iPhone user installs the Microsoft digital store on the device.
