Italian football legend Gianluigi Buffon has revealed that he bought himself a diploma at the age of 18.
Tells about it the Italian Repubblica on its website. At the time of the event, Buffon was already a Serie A player in high school. In the interview, Buffon mentions buying the certificate as something he regrets. Buffon says he wouldn’t do the same thing again.
“I’ve never been a fan of shortcuts. I like the idea that my imperfection makes me human and brings me closer to people,” said Buffon.
46 years old Buffon ended his football career only before this season. He played his last season in Parma, Italy’s second highest division in Serie B.
He also played his first Serie A games in Parma at the age of 17 and was on the team’s books when he bought the certificate he mentioned.
For most of his club career, Buffon played in the Italian giants Juventus. In his peak years, he was one of the best goalkeepers in the world and at his peak earned more than 10 million euros per season.
During his career, Buffon won, for example, the World Cup in Italy in 2006.
