The US Senate approves a bill on aid to Ukraine

The US Senate on Tuesday approved a bill that, among other things, provides Ukraine with $60 billion in aid, but the Republican-controlled House of Representatives is expected to reject it.

70 senators voted for the bill, which also provides military aid to Israel and Taiwan, and 29 against.

Nearly 20 Republicans sided with Democrats in the vote, but House Republicans, who include many supporters of former President Donald Trump, have threatened not to support the bill in its current form.
