Valentine’s DayThese love toys are hidden in Swiss bedrooms
Love is in the air. Time to take a look into the bedside drawers of the Swiss population.
Soon is Valentines Day. For many couples, this is an opportunity to breathe new life into their relationship. Or in the bedroom. Or wherever you indulge in lovemaking. In addition to the classic rose, sex toys are also often given away before and after the annual love day.
“During this time we have a little more than twice as many orders compared to a regular period,” says marketing boss Isabelle Schmid from Amorana. The online retailer Kisskiss also confirms: “We see a spike in orders from February 1st, when couples want to treat themselves to something for Valentine’s Day.”
Most popular sex toys in Switzerland
At the top of the Galaxus sales charts there is one undisputed number one: the vibrator. It was sold almost twice as many times as the second-place masturbator. A masturbation aid made of leather or latex that simulates an artificial vagina – like a vibrator, also available battery-operated.
The vibrator’s powerless brother, the dildo, entered the top 5 in 2023 and knocked the cock ring off the top spots. Bondage and anal toy products have alternated in third and fourth place over the last three years.
Popular with men
At the online sex shop Amorana, a masturbator is also the most purchased product among men. A fully automatic AI blowjob machine made it to second place. Followed by: penis ring, prostate stimulator and
It responds to voice commands and users can download new blowjobs via Wi-Fi. Because it can be controlled with a cell phone, it can be controlled from anywhere in the world. So could be a suitable Valentine’s Day gift for long distance relationships.
Women buy that
According to Amorana, the clitoral and G-spot stimulator is the best seller for women. The top 5 are all vibrators.
Also very popular: the world’s first shower head that was developed specifically for masturbation: “Demand for Amorana went through the roof within a very short time after its launch,” says Schmid.
Attention, now it’s getting romantic for Valentine’s Day: At the online retailer Kisskiss, a vibrator with a rose head is the bestseller among women (see photo gallery above).
These products are sold less
The biggest decline in sales was recorded at Galaxus for lingerie and vagina pumps, and at Amorana for the European version of the “Hitachi Magic Wand” made famous in the “Sex and the City” series.
Before the mention in the series, a therapeutic massager for back pain, then: a sex toy that is temporarily out of stock in the USA.
Biggest sales growth
Sex toys such as the penis cage or the sex machine (we will forego the more explicit, real name at this point) have not made it into the best-selling list, but have seen great growth at Galaxus. The latter increased by 167 percent and is finding a place in more and more bedside table drawers.
Sex machines in particular have conquered bedrooms in 16 cantons. Exceptions are Nidwalden and Jura, where sex dolls have caused a lot of purchases; in Thurgau and Neuchâtel, penis cages were in vogue in 2023.
By the way: Our neighbors from Liechtenstein loved buying cock rings last year.
It’s not the size that counts, but the price
The most expensive love toy at Galaxus is a luxury vibrator that costs over 5,200. It is made of stainless steel and finished with 24 carat gold. Also in this price range are sex dolls with artificial intelligence that can move their heads and lips and remember things.
So always stay decent.
