Norwegian The National Security Police said on Monday that it had uncovered planned far-right terrorist attacks and that children were behind the plans.
“The youngest was a 12-year-old Norwegian boy with far-right views,” said Linn Havnelid about the protection police, according to news agency TT, to Dagbladet.
According to Havnelid, more than ten 12- to 15-year-old boys have been caught in similar plans in recent years in Norway.
“Since the internet has become a part of people’s everyday lives, we have seen young people becoming radicalized on the internet. This happens just as much in the countryside as in the cities.”
Havnelid said the boys discussed crimes online in encrypted forums. He did not want to give details about the boys or what the planned attacks entailed.
“What the boys have in common is that it all started with a harmless joke,” which has evolved into discussions about terrorist acts.
