INTERNATIONAL – It’s quite a promotion. Adam Kadyrov, the son of Chechnya’s authoritarian leader and ally, was named head of the president’s security on Sunday, November 5. However, he is only 15 years old, and will celebrate his 16th birthday on November 24.
The information was shared on Telegram by Chechen Health Minister Adam Alkanov. “I sincerely congratulate (…) Adam Kadyrov on his appointment to the responsible post of head of the security department of the head of the Chechen Republic! »he wrote in a post spotted by the Russian press agency.
“Adam Kadyrov, despite his young age, already has a wealth of practical experience, but above all, he has the strong spirit of a true and courageous warrior. I am absolutely sure, no one and nothing will stop him from defending his father.”added the minister, never stopping singing his praises.
A “hero of Chechnya” on the same journey as his father
This new promotion follows three awards received in one month. On October 6, he was appointed “Hero of Chechnya”. A few days later, adds AFP, he received the second highest distinction in , another Russian republic with a Muslim majority, according to Chechen officials cited by Russian media.
On October 25, he finally received the highest distinction from the Russian Muslim region of Karachayevo-Cherkessia, to reward his “ personal contribution to the development of inter-ethnic and inter-regional unity and the strengthening of traditional Islamic values”.
All these honors follow the publication at the end of September of a video showing Adam Kadyrov beating a detainee accused of having burned the Koran in public. Nikita Zhuravel, 19, was arrested in Volvograd in western Russia in May, then transferred to Chechnya, says . When images of the beating were broadcast, Ramzan Kadyrov said he ” proud “ of his son.
Adam Kadyrov thus seems to be following the same path as his father. As pointed out in fact International mail, before becoming head of state, Ramzan Kadyrov also headed his own father’s security service when the latter was president of Chechnya between 2003 and 2004.
