At least 14 people were injured after a tree fell on a rollercoaster in Spain

A total of 14 people were injured, two of them seriously, on Sunday after a tree fell on a rollercoaster at PortAventura in Tarragona, in eastern Spain, Reuters reports.

“On Sunday morning, due to strong winds, there was an incident caused by a tree falling near the Tomahawk Raceway,” stated in a press release the amusement park, one of the favorites of tourists in the Costa Dorada.

The Tomahawk race is a “rollercoaster for children with frantic ups and downs”, according to the PortAventura website. “Some branches hit visitors on the carousel”it is also specified in the release of the amusement park.

The Catalan emergency services declared that they provided assistance in the case of 14 people. Two, in critical condition, were transported to two separate hospitals. Three people in less serious condition were also taken to the hospital.
