Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic (ranked 110th in the world) won the ATP Next Gen Finals, the $2 million tournament for the best young professional players, on Saturday.

Hamad Medjedovic won the ATP Next Gen 2023

In the final played in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Medjedovic beat the Frenchman Arthur Fils (36 ATP), score 3(6)-4, 4-1, 4-2, 3(9)-4, 4-1.

Aged 21, the player from Serbia had taken advantage of the abandonment of the Swiss Dominic Stricker in the semi-finals.

Medjedovic joins a list of impressive names who conquered ATP Next Gen, such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz.

The youngster has a special relationship with world number one Novak Djokovic, who has helped him in his rise, both financially and with the opportunity to train at his training centre.
