The highest level of flood activity: In Ružomberok they are solving a critical situation!

The city of Ružomberok announced the third level of flood activity on watercourses and small watercourses on Sunday. The situation is particularly critical on the Revúca river in Podsucha and in the Biely Potok district. TASR was informed about this by city spokesman Vladimír Miškovčík.

“We are monitoring the situation in the field and it is really not good. Representatives of the Slovak Water Management Company, Povodia horného Váh and the head of the crisis management department of the District Office in Ružomberok came to look at the water course. Our communal services and volunteer firefighters are on standby. We all hope that the river will calm down and the level will go down,” pointed out the mayor of Ružomberok Ľubomír Kubáň.

Spilled water can potentially endanger life and health, the property of legal and natural persons, the environment, cultural heritage and economic activity in critical places. “During the flood situation, we will monitor water courses, mitigate the risk of spillage and gradually collect documentation on the damage caused. If necessary, we will intervene. In the following days, we will reassess the declared degree of flood activity according to the current state of water courses in the city,” added the mayor.

The municipality asks the residents of the affected areas not to stay near the river and to warn their children, who can move around the city without adult supervision. “Volunteer firefighters, the Fire and Rescue Service, competent city employees and city police officers are on standby,” concluded Miskovčík.
